Celebrating Pride, Community & Visibility in the Pilbara

Celebrating Pride, Community & Visibility in the Pilbara

Country and Community

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands on which we live, meet and connect, and recognise their deep and continuing relationship with land, sea, sky and community. In the Port Hedland area, we acknowledge the Kariyarra and Nyamal peoples, and we extend our respect to the many Aboriginal Nations of the Pilbara, including the Ngarluma, Yindjibarndi, Banyjima, Innawonga, Nyamal, Ngarla and Martu peoples, whose cultures and traditions have cared for this Country for tens of thousands of years.

We pay our respect to Elders past and present, and to those who are guiding future generations. We honour the knowledge, stories and cultural practices that continue to shape this region and acknowledge the importance of understanding, respect and shared care for the lands and waters on which we come together.

As a diverse and inclusive community, PHLAGS+ is grateful to gather on this Country and is committed to fostering respect, understanding and connection with Aboriginal cultures, histories and ongoing ties to this place.
